In 2007, the largely unknown pianist
Simone Dinnerstein released her
self-produced take on Bach’s
immortal Goldberg Variations and,
to everyone’s surprise, it became a
chart-topping sensation. The New
Yorker dubbed it “the runaway hit
of the year,” while Salon raved, “Go
hear her, and get religion.”
Capitalizing on this momentum,
Dinnerstein, 34, has just released
Berlin Concert, featuring the music
of Bach and Beethoven, as well as
a world-premiere piece by Philip
Lasser. International Piano said, “To
say that Dinnerstein is technically
flawless would be to hugely
understate the case.”
For Seven Days, Dinnerstein plays
two special concerts – first in the
Big Room of Pebble Hill Plantation
(the first public concert held inside
the glorious mansion), then at
FSU’s Opperman Music Hall. She’ll
play Bach’s French Suite No. 5,
Schumann’s remarkable Kreisleriana,
Webern’s Variations for Piano, and
the new Lasser piece, 12 Variations
on a Bach Chorale.
