The FSU Museum of Fine Arts (MoFA) offers
a trio of wildly divergent exhibitions for its
traditional opening-night reception for Seven
Days of Opening Nights. MoFA hosts two exhibitions on tour from the
John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art: Old
Master Drawings runs a three-century gamut
of styles and subject matter, while Tradition
and Transformation presents iconic imagery in
bold, contemporary Japanese prints.
If these
offerings weren’t splendidly different enough,
the exhibition on the Museum’s lower level
brings the color and dynamism of an American expressionist to the public via the high-energy
brushwork of Arthur Deshaies, a painter for
all seasons. These exhibitions celebrate the
richness of the collections at the Ringling
Museum in Sarasota and at the Museum of
Fine Arts on campus.
